First there is the first cross lab of the season. What is a cross lab? A cross lab is an informal clinic run by cyclocross enthusiasts for those who are interested in finding out more about the sport of cross. It is also an opportunity for you to get the rust out and practice those skills that are just sitting in the closet. The first lab takes place this Thursday at Omand’s Creek Park at 7:00. Bring your cross bike (or any bike for that matter) and don’t forget your helmet.
Here is info on the rest cross lab schedule

Next up is the Alter Ego 8 hour enduro this Sunday at Birch. If the weather permits, some of us will be camping at the race site on Saturday night. Let me (halUNDERSCOREloewen@shawDOTca) know if you are interested in camping also (NOTE: you can not just show up, you must let me know so we can get permission from the land owner).

The MUCR cross labs will be starting again soon - details are being worked on and an announcement on days and times will be made shortly. For those who do not know what a cross labs are, they are loosely organized training sessions where you get the opportunity to work on your cross skills with other cross minded enthusiasts. If you are a newbie, all the better as some of the more experienced riders will be glad to help you out.
From our friends at Woodcock…
Hi everyone,
3 more criteriums have been added to the schedule, to be held in Assiniboine Park. Criteriums are the best refresher/training in preparation for Cross Season, which starts on August 30th.
There you go, another opportunity to get ready for cross.

August 5th is a go!
This post from Brian Szklarczuk
After a 10+ year hiatus, the Olympia weekly ’shoot-out’ is returning. It’s a simple ride - meet at the shop, ride out west and back on road bikes with gears. The speed is fast with sprint points along the way, lots of gutter-balling and nose-piercing, puke-fest fast echelons. For those who get ’shot-out’ the back, you get picked by the group up on the way home.
Oh, and we may decide to bring back the historic ‘olympia leaders jersey’ back into the fold, depending on how the shoot-outs go.
Shoot-Out #1
Where: Olympia
When: Wed Aug 5
Time: Depart at 6:00 pm sharp
Distance: 80+km
Note: We anticipate a few more shoot-outs this month, but it will be on a week-to-week basis.
