When is an A/B race not an A/B race?

When it is the provincials. Provincials are run by age category and not by classification (A/B). Therefore you may be in an all new time category for this race. Here are the age breakdowns, race and start times:

  • Citizen (25 min +2 laps) at 11:30
  • U13, U11, U9, U7 (15 min +2 laps) at 12:15
  • Women, U17, 40+, 50+ (35 min +2 laps) at 12:45
  • U23, Elite (24-29), 30+ (45min +2 laps) at 2:00

Who are you racing against? Depends on your age as of December 31, 2010 - yes, 2010! Cyclocross is technically on next year’s schedule so that is the date used for the age cut off. Confused? Well here is a list of the adult racers and which category they fall in.

looking to get involved in the party? here is your opportunity; cross needs lots of volunteers - the more, the better the race quality. please let me know if and where you can help?

Schedule

Saturday, Oct 31
1) 3:00 PM, course overview and setup planning. Will be riding and marking the course. We will not be doing any staking as it is Halloween and that night and it would be just silly to do anything like that. Would like a few volunteers here - the idea is to put people in charge of a section to be staked and marked the next morning and if you are there to go over it the night before the morning should go much faster.

Sunday, Nov 1
1) 7:30 AM, staking and taping the course, maybe shoveling if necessary (right now they are calling for snow on Saturday) - we need lots of people for this one. The citizen’s race starts at 11:30 so we need the lots of bodies to make sure the race course is ready to go.

The community club will be open early so we’ll have a place to warm up and hang out before the race - coffee and doughnuts will be provided.

Race Times:

  • 11:30 Citizen’s race
  • 12:15 Kids Race
  • 12:45 B Race
  • 2:00 A Race
  • 3:30+  Awards and Soup and Bread Feed

Volunteer Positions Needed:

  1. Course Marker (setup and take down)
  2. Marshals
  3. Food Prep
  4. Registration

Materials needed:

  1. Snow fence and posts - if anyone has, or knows of someone who has a good length of snow fence we could use a couple of hundred feet.

provincials

next week is the manitoba cyclocross provincials. following the race and during the awards ceremony we will be doing this…

soup-and-bread2

note that you need to bring your own bowl/mug and spoon if you want some soup. why? we don’t want to be filling landfills with disposable bowls and spoons - no need for that.

but, before that we have the Cross-Tastic race this Sunday at Whittier - be there.
