This Weekend - Late Edition
Oops - too much time spent getting ready for this event and not enough time promoting it. Tomorrow (today when many of you will be reading this) is this…
Manitoba’s only 24 hour event takes place this weekend. FGBC, RRR, and the Birch Club have put much time and effort into this one and riders will be justly rewarded by their efforts. It is not too late to join the fun, more info here
Next up…our own enduro event, Where’s the Beach? In Stead.
First, anyone who would like a guided tour of the course this Sunday should contact Lindsay Gauld who will be going out this Sunday, July 25 at 11:00. Please contact Lindsay if you would like to partake in this tour, if you don’t he will start with out you.
Some of you may be wondering what the new course will be like, well here are a few pictures of the trails…
It starts with a gravel road ride - this will be a controlled start
There is a lot of this, it is quite pretty and if you get tired of riding you can find wild raspberries and blueberries on the side of the trail
There are a few overgrown trails, occasionally littered with rocks
More of this, and some of it is sandy
There is some windy trails with berms
Some open sections - there where a ton of people out picking wild blueberries here
More wooded sections
Hope this gives you a good indication of what to expect, but some of you will still have some questions, like…
- How long will it take? That depends on how fast you are (duh), at a relaxed pace you could cover it in about 2 hours
- Looks flat - Well, yes it is and most of it is double track
- Could I use a cross bike? - You could, but it could be risky: there are some hidden rocks that are not a problem for mountain bike tires but might be problematic for the skinnier cross tires; there is sand and that could be soul sucking - how lucky do you feel
More info will be coming so stay posted.
